Sarah Tansey, born in Wicklow Ireland, emigrated to Australia with her family as a child and was educated in Maitland, Sydney and Wollongong where she completed her teacher training. Norway was her next destination - where, for the next seven years, she had her two children, learned to speak and read Norwegian and worked not only as a teacher but also as a translator and museum guide. Learning to operate in a new culture was a great opportunity to learn not only the language but about choices we make regarding expressing ourselves. |
Returning with her family to Sydney she learned to meditate and subsequently became deeply involved, and one of the Directors, of the Self Transformation Centre which had premises in Elizabeth Street, Sydney. This was a time of excitement, creativity and even more learning. She also spent time in London with her present husband Robert Prinable, setting up the Self Transformations branch and conducting courses in three centres: Bristol, Taunton and London. Upon returning to Sydney Sarah wrote the original BUF course in response to the felt need for a teacher training programme. The original course, the first a small group of 8 has now, 20 years later, been taught many times by a number of various teachers in different venues such as Melbourne, Auckland and Sydney. Sarah even taught an abridged version of BUF in London where the participants chose to strut their stuff at remarkably short notice to an enthralled audience of family and friends in a theatre in Battersea. In Sydney Alexia Miall has been successfully running these courses for some time. As language has always held a fascination for her Sarah completed a Masters degree in Applied Lingustics in recent years to delve more deeplyand further educate herself regarding the choices we all make consciously or unconsciously with regard to expressing ourselves. In these recent years Sarah has been involved in teaching and examining/assessing competence in language in a more formal way and is now looking forward to returning to her BUF course with all the enthusiasm and knowledge gained from her studies. |

Joanna’s background includes corporate communication, writing, marketing, personal development and somatic psychotherapy. As well as teaching The Turning Point, she works as a psychotherapist in private practice. As a teacher, Joanna’s style is practical, clear, humorous and heartfelt as she helps participants gain greater self awareness and self acceptance, enabling them to lead more fulfilling lives. She has a strong belief in respecting and validating people’s individuality and own experiences. Her passion is learning more about how we can integrate our body and mind experiences as we develop and grow in consciousness. Joanna’s love of personal development started with her own Turning Point in 1997. “I still remember that moment at the end of my Turning Point when I decided that I wanted to do this work. I wanted to have more of the aliveness, the freedom and the power that I reconnected with on my Turning Point. That promise to myself has led me on an amazing journey of discovery and it’s one of the reasons why I love teaching the Turning Point – I know from personal experience, that this work can change your life. I find it incredibly inspiring to work with people who are on their own paths of healing and personal growth – people who are willing to take the risk to grow.” |
